Rock
Rock is situated on the beautiful Camel estuary and could hardly be less appropriately named as its popularity is mainly due to the long stretch of fine sandy beaches, just a short ferry ride from Padstow, Rock is a haven for sailing and water sports.
The village has a few cafes and bars as well as a variety of great restaurants, all within walking distance of the ferry point. There is also a butchers, bakers and fishmongers and the well known ‘Di’s Dairy’ which has been nicknamed ‘fortnum and mason on sea’!
There are many family friendly beaches in this area including the beautiful Rock beach which you step straight onto from the ferry. This is a long stretch of lovely golden sand which is backed by sand dunes. From here you can walk round to Daymer Bay at low tide or when the tide is high via a foot path which takes you up over Brea hill where you will see spectacular views across to Padstow and out to sea.
Daymer Bay is another lovely sandy beach and from here you can follow the coastal path round to the surfing haven of Polzeath where the views and scenery continue to amaze.
Polzeath also has an abundance of facilities including several surf shops, restaurants and pubs and a spar shop. All of these places are easily accessible by car from Padstow via Wadebridge and all have parking facilities.
